Pisgah Pest Control has been named the winner of the National Pest Management Association's Culture Catalyst Award at PestWorld 2026 in Grapevine, Texas. The award recognizes companies that build strong workplace cultures through clear core values and real employee engagement.
For a family-owned company headquartered in Brevard and serving Western North Carolina since 1967, that recognition lands close to home. Culture isn't a side project here. It's how the work gets done on the truck, in the office, and with the homeowners who let us into their houses.

Here's the award video NPMA put together:
What the Culture Catalyst Award recognizes
According to the NPMA awards announcement, the Culture Catalyst Award celebrates companies that have created exceptional workplace cultures through strong core values and employee engagement. Nominees are judged on core values backed by real examples, employee engagement and growth, work-life balance, community involvement, and retention. The award is sponsored by Arrow Exterminators.
Coverage of this year's industry awards also appeared in Pest Control Technology and Pest Management Professional, and FieldRoutes published a profile of how our team approaches hiring, growth, and giving back.
The values behind the work
Our culture rests on four core values: Integrity, Honesty, 5 Star Service, and Be a Good Human Being. We've written about them before in Upholding Excellence Through Core Values, and they show up in small, concrete ways:
- Integrity means doing the right thing on a quiet Tuesday when nobody is watching the route.
- Honesty means giving a clear assessment, even when the answer isn't what someone hoped to hear.
- 5 Star Service means the job isn't finished until the customer understands what we did and what comes next.
- Be a Good Human Being means treating teammates, customers, and the places we work with respect.
As our CEO Shawn White put it in that profile, "Anybody can kill a bug. Pest control is about dealing with people." That's why we hire for character first and teach the technical side after.
Those aren't posters on a wall. They're the standard we hire to, train to, and hold each other to across Asheville, Brevard, Cashiers, Hendersonville, Waynesville, and the surrounding mountain communities.
Why this matters for WNC homeowners
When you call a local pest control company, you're trusting people to walk your property, work carefully around your family, and come back when something isn't right. A healthy culture is what makes that trust possible. Techs who feel supported do better work. Office staff who tell the truth make scheduling and quotes less stressful. A team that shares the same values shows up the same way at a cabin near the forest edge and a home in town.
It's also why we put time and money into the communities we serve, from local schools and an annual backpack giveaway to organizations supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
We're glad the national association noticed. We're gladder that our customers already see it in the service they get.
